Nessler cylinder
Nessler cylinder A laboratory device designed for visual comparison of the color of solutions and samples during colorimetric analyses. The cylinder is a tall, transparent, colorless glass vessel with a flat bottom; the product is marked with contrasting graduations for accurate measurement of the volume of the solution. The cylinders are made in accordance with GOST 1770-74 from thermally and chemically resistant borosilicate glass 3.3, which has a high level of transparency. The device is used for: studying the concentration of components in a solution - based on the intensity of its color; comparison of the studied solution with a set of standard solutions with a known concentration (until a visual match of shades is achieved). The cylinder design ensures uniform illumination of solutions, which is critical for accurate color assessment. Nessler cylinders are especially useful: in the field; in laboratories with limited financial resources; where a quick approximate determination of concentration by color is required without the use of expensive equipment.
