Device for determining COD without a stand
Device for determining COD (chemical oxygen demand) without a stand A glass chemical oxygen demand (COD) meter is a laboratory equipment that is used to measure the amount of oxygen required to oxidize organic and inorganic substances in water. COD is a key indicator of organic pollution in the aquatic environment. Consists of (see image) refrigerator type XSh pos. 1, flat-bottomed evaporation flasks with a capacity of 250 ml, pos. 3, connected to each other by a conical interchangeable joint KSh 19/26 according to GOST 8682-93 and springs pos. 4. The flask and condenser are made of borosilicate glass, which ensures high strength and resistance to chemical influences. Determination of COD using a glass instrument is carried out by the titrimetric method, which involves boiling a sample of water with reagents (for example, potassium dichromate and sulfuric acid) in a flask under reflux. After oxidation, the remainder of the oxidizing agent is titrated with a solution of Mohr’s salt, and the amount of dichromate consumed for the oxidation of organic substances is calculated from the difference in volumes. The article number for the glassware set is 1363. The tripod (item 2) is not included with the device. Manba: https://www.nv-lab.ru/catalog_info.php?ID=10751
