Optical fluorescence microscope MAGUS Lum 450L

The MAGUS Lum 450L microscope in the basic configuration is designed for research using the bright field method (in transmitted light) and in luminescence light (in reflected light). The method of working in fluorescent light is based on the ability of some objects to glow independently under the influence of light waves of a certain length. In this way, pathogens of various diseases are studied, DNA analysis and chromosomal analysis and other medical, forensic, pharmacological studies, observations for the areas of veterinary control or sanitary and epidemiological surveillance are carried out. When installing additional components, the microscope can operate in dark field, phase contrast and polarized light The MAGUS Lum 450L model has a number of features. In a coded revolver, the light intensity is adjusted when changing the lens. The LCD display adds comfort when working, with the help of which some functions are monitored and adjusted. The condenser has marks on the body, making it easy to adjust. The microscope has an ergonomic design, and user comfort was of great importance in its design. A visual attachment with two tubes and an imaging channel requires the installation of a digital camera. The eyepiece tubes have an adjustment system to suit the user's height: to make them higher or lower, the tubes are rotated 360°. The light flux is divided into tubes and the imaging channel in a 50/50 ratio. The microscope comes with two 10x/22 mm eyepieces with a diopter adjustment ring and a pupil placed at a considerable distance: a user wearing glasses can operate the microscope. To protect the glasses, the eyepieces are equipped with rubber eyecups. Up to 5 lenses can be installed in the revolving device. In this case, the working lens will be located directly in front of the user, and the rest are directed away from him - this design creates a large working space and is convenient for manipulating the drug. The microscope kit includes 4 objectives ranging from 4x to 100x. The user selects a lens for the fifth slot of the revolver independently, based on his own tasks. Choose lenses with a parfocal height of 60 mm. If necessary, an analyzer can be installed in the slot above the revolver. This microscope is distinguished by its ability to automatically adjust lighting when changing the working lens. The fact is that the magnification affects the light transmission of the optics, and if, when turning the revolver, the light intensity from the outside appears unchanged, then in the eyepieces the user sees strong changes in brightness. This affects both the user’s well-being and his time costs: the lighting system has to be adjusted every time after changing the lens. The coded revolver can adjust the level of illumination automatically: the user adjusts the light only once for each lens. Focus adjustment is done using a coaxial knob system. Coarse focusing is done with the handle on the left; for fine adjustments there are handles on both sides of the tripod (on the right there are grooves for fingers). For user convenience, there is a coarse focusing locking handle and a ring that regulates the rigidity of the coarse focusing stroke. The object table is controlled using a long handle. The drug holder fixes the object, but the user can easily remove it if necessary - it is attached to the table with only 2 screws. The table itself does not have a retractable rack, and the preparation is moved using a belt transmission mechanism. The light sources in the MAGUS Lum 450L model are LED illuminators. A transmitted light illuminator is used for bright field observations. It is equipped with a 3-watt LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours. Color temperature is maintained at the same level as power changes. To operate in fluorescent light, the microscope has a reflected light illuminator. The LEDs in this illuminator are also 3-watt, this illuminator is safe and does not require additional maintenance. It does not heat up, quickly reaches the desired brightness and turns off quickly. Switching from one operating mode to another is carried out using a switch in the luminescent nozzle: the middle position ensures operation in a bright field; when turning the switch to the right or left, the working filter is selected - blue (B) or green (G). With a blue filter installed, the object produces a yellow-green luminescent glow, with a green filter - red. This microscope can be adjusted according to Köhler illumination. It is uniform, without dark areas across the field of view, and artifacts, such as dust or the image of the illuminator, are not displayed. With this kind of lighting, each lens reaches its resolution limit. The MAGUS Lum 450L model has a special marked condenser. On its body there are marks corresponding to the magnification of the lenses, and on the ring there is a pointer. If you place a marker opposite the desired magnification mark, the image will become as clear and contrasty as possible. The position of the condenser can be adjusted vertically and relative to the optical axis. The condenser body has a slot for installing dark field or phase contrast sliders. While the sliders are not in use, the slot is closed with a plug. The selected parameters can be checked on the built-in LCD screen. The user can select the “eco” or “sleep” mode, set the time for automatic shutdown of the device, and also check the brightness level of the backlight and block the ability to change it. In addition to the listed design features that affect the user’s comfort, the design of the microscope includes the ability to hide wires from the user’s eyes: the workplace becomes tidier and safer. There is a reliable carrying handle on the device body. The microscope is convenient to store, use and move. You can make this model even more functional by adding optional accessories. Additional components will open up research opportunities using dark field, phase contrast, and simple polarization methods. A line of additional eyepieces will add value to the magnification range. Digital cameras can help demonstrate research to the general public by displaying the image on a screen or recording it on a memory card. Also, using a camera or a calibration slide complete with an eyepiece with a scale, measurements of the object are taken.
