Set "Earth's Magnetic Field" "EDULAB"
The "Earth's Magnetic Field" set is designed to determine the horizontal component of the Earth's magnetic field. The device is a coil containing 6 turns of insulated wire. In the center of the coil on a horizontal platform there is a magnetic needle. The arrow is located in the housing, on which there is a scale for reading the angle of rotation. The housing is fixed so that the 0-1800 line of the scale coincides with the plane of the coil. In order not to distort the measured magnetic field, the device tripod is made of non-magnetic materials. When performing the experiment, the angle of deflection of the magnetic needle is measured at different values of the current in the coil, the dependence of the tangent of the angle of deflection of the needle on the induction of the magnetic field of the coil is plotted, and the horizontal component of the Earth's magnetic field is determined.
