ATP luminometry method The operation of the luminometer is based on a method based on the luminometric determination of the amount of intracellular ATP (adenosine triphosphate). It refers to screening methods that quickly and safely identify potentially dangerous biological risks. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a universal energy molecule found in all plant, animal and bacterial cells, including yeast and mold. The analysis uses the biochemical reaction of the enzyme luciferin/luciferase with ATP molecules. The enzyme is located in a sterile test tube designed for taking samples for contamination from hard surfaces or water. When ATP molecules come into contact with the luciferin/luciferase reagent, light quanta are produced. The luminometer counts the volume of light produced and displays information about the level of contamination within 15 seconds. The higher the reading, the higher the level of contamination. The ATP concentration directly depends on the degree of microbial contamination and organic pollution. If we are talking about washed surfaces, then the ATP concentration reflects the value of the total microbial number (TMC), and therefore indicates the level of hygiene. ATP level is measured in relative light units - RLU (RLU - Relative Light Unit). One unit of RLU corresponds to 1 femtomole (10-15 mol) of ATP. This amount of intracellular ATP is contained in several microbial cells, which is equivalent to single CFU on a nutrient medium. CFU is a colony-forming unit, and the English abbreviation CFU is also found - Colony-Forming Unit. Features of Hygiena EnSURE Touch ATP analysis result in 10-15 seconds.
