Biofeedback complex for correction of psycho-emotional state “Biosvyaz”
The BFB software-indicator complex registers and processes simultaneously several signals of electrical activity of the brain (EEG), electrical activity of muscles (EMG), respiratory rate (RR) and heart rate (HR). Individual rhythms (alpha, beta, theta) are isolated from EEG signals and signals are generated corresponding to the intensity or time of presence of these rhythms. The EMG signals are integrated with a given time constant (the integrated EMG corresponds to the amplitude of muscle contraction), and the cardiac respiratory arrhythmia (CRA) is calculated from the HR and RR signals. The program divides the processed information onto two computer monitors. One monitor (the trainee's monitor) receives information about changes in the processed bioelectric signals with indication of these changes in the form of biofeedback (BFB), and the second monitor (the instructor's monitor) receives information about the results of statistical processing of these signals. BFB signals are presented visually on the computer monitor screen (changes in the brightness of video clips, curtain movement, animated game scenes, changing slides, etc.), as well as in the form of audio signals (threshold on/off, change in tone, etc.). The software of the complex selects individual rhythms through several EEG channels with subsequent processing of the EEG pattern, amplitude of the integrated EMG, RR, current heart rate, as well as comparison of the processed signals with reference characteristics, on the basis of which multimedia BFB signals are generated, reflecting deviations of real indicators from the reference ones. The complex provides an assessment of the initial functional state of a person at rest and under psycho-emotional stress by recording changes in physiological parameters responsible for the functioning of the human cardiorespiratory, autonomic, neuromuscular and central nervous systems. Control of a person’s psycho-emotional state is carried out by developing the skills of voluntary control of the electrical activity of the brain, the skill of neuromuscular relaxation and the skill of managing the activity of the cardiorespiratory system using the biofeedback method.
