Combination electrode HANNA HI 1230B (plastic) pH electrode in polyetherimide (PEI) housing with double salt bridge and BNC connector. The electrode is equipped with a single ceramic diaphragm and a spherical pH-sensitive membrane made of general purpose glass, protected by an extended housing made of durable PEI. The electrode design is ideal for field measurements as well as for general purposes. General purpose glass General purpose glass, as the name suggests, is glass of standard composition used for general purposes. A pH electrode with this glass has a resistance of 100 MΩ at 25 °C and is suitable for measuring pH samples at room temperature. HI 1230B is suitable for measuring samples with temperatures from 0 to 70 °C. Spherical membrane The spherical membrane is used for general purposes. Other membrane shapes include penetrating conical and flat for surface measurement. PEI-corps The housing of the HI 1230B is made of polyetherimide (PEI). The PEI housing is suitable for a wide range of applications and excels in field measurements due to its ruggedness. Protection around the spherical membrane minimizes the risk of breakage due to accidental impact or dropping of the electrode. PEI is a high-quality plastic that is resistant to many aggressive chemicals. Double salt bridge electrode Double salt bridge electrodes have an outer compartment surrounding the reference electrode. The electrolyte of the internal compartment, in which the Ag/AgCl reference electrode wire is located, contains silver ions; The compartment electrolyte does not contain silver. The double salt bridge design makes it possible to ensure that silver ions from the electrode practically do not enter the sample. This design allows measurements to be made in cases where the presence of silver ions in the sample is undesirable, or silver may form a deposit on the diaphragm. BNC connector The HI 1230B uses a BNC connection. This is a universal connection that allows the electrode to be used on any pH meter with the same type of connection. Other types of connections are DIN, threaded, T-shaped and 3.5 mm. These types of connections are typically specific to a specific type of device and are not interchangeable.
