Combination electrode HANNA HI 1053B (glass)
Combination electrode HANNA HI 1053B (glass) Refillable pH electrode with glass body, double salt bridge and BNC connection. This electrode has three ceramic diaphragms at the outlet of the reference electrode and a conical pH-sensitive membrane made of glass for low temperatures. The electrode design is ideal for measurements in emulsions, fats, creams, soil, semi-solid samples, low conductivity samples and for measurements of samples at low temperatures. Glass for low temperatures Measuring pH at very high temperatures damages the sensitive glass membrane and shortens its life. A general purpose glass pH electrode has a resistance of 100 MΩ at 25°C. The resistance of LT glass is approximately 50 MΩ at 25 °C. As the temperature of the glass in the sample decreases, the resistance of LT glass will approach that of general purpose glass. If general purpose glass was used, the resistance would decrease more slowly than optimal, resulting in lower impedance values and subsequently affecting measurements. The HI 1053B electrode is suitable for measuring samples in the range from -5 to 100°C. Conical membrane The conical shape of the membrane allows penetration into solid, semi-solid samples, emulsions for direct pH measurements in foods, soils and emulsions such as hand creams. Glass body The glass body is ideal for laboratory use. Glass is resistant to various aggressive environments and is easy to clean. The glass housing also facilitates rapid heat transfer to the internal reference electrode. The voltage generated by the reference electrode depends on temperature. The faster the electrode reaches equilibrium, the more stable the potential of the reference electrode. Triple ceramic diaphragm The triple ceramic diaphragm allows for increased electrolyte flow from the reference electrode into the sample. A typical pH electrode with a single ceramic membrane has a throughput of 15-20 µL/hour; The HI 1053B has three ceramic diaphragms that provide an electrolyte flow of 40-50 µL/h. The higher the flow level, the faster the electrode response and the more stable measurements in viscous media and in solutions with low conductivity Electrode compared with two salt bridges A reference electrode with two salt bridges has an outer compartment surrounding the reference electrode. The electrolyte of the internal compartment, in which the Ag/AgCl reference electrode wire is located, contains silver ions; The compartment electrolyte does not contain silver. The double salt bridge design makes it possible to ensure that silver ions from the electrode practically do not enter the sample. This design allows measurements to be made in cases where the presence of silver ions in the sample is undesirable, or silver may form a deposit on the diaphragm. Diaphragm contamination leads to experimental data drift Fillable electrode HI 1053B – refillable electrode. For pH electrode with double salt bridge, HI 7082 3.5M KCl solution is used for filling. This solution does not contain silver, unlike a single salt bridge electrode. BNC connector The HI 1053B uses a BNC connection. This is a universal connection that allows the electrode to be used on any pH meter with the same type of connection. Other types of connections are DIN, threaded, T-shaped and 3.5 mm. These types of connections are typically specific to a particular type of device and are not interchangeable. Manba: https://www.nv-lab.ru/catalog_info.php?ID=2681
