Combination electrode HANNA FC 220B (glass)

Combination electrode HANNA FC 220B (glass) FC 220B is a glass pH electrode with one salt bridge and BNC connector. Features of the FC 220B are the presence of three ceramic diaphragms, a sensitive spherical membrane made of low-temperature glass, and the ability to refill electrolyte. The electrode design is ideal for measuring pH in products such as creams, sauces, and fruit juices. Widely used in the wine industry. Recommended temperature range from -5 to +70 °C. Low temperature glass The electrode membrane is made of low-temperature glass with a resistance reduced by 50 MΩ compared to the resistance of general purpose glass (OH) of 100 MΩ. This is an advantage since many foods are stored at low temperatures. As the glass in the sample cools, the resistance of LT glass increases, approaching the resistance of OH glass at room temperature. If OH glass was used, the resistance would increase above the optimal input impedance of the pH meter. FC 220B is suitable for measuring samples from 0 to 50 °C. Spherical membrane The spherical membrane is used in most cases. Other membrane shapes are conical for penetration into the sample and flat for surface measurements Glass body The glass body is ideal for laboratory use. Glass is resistant to various aggressive environments and is easy to clean. The glass housing also facilitates rapid heat transfer to the internal reference electrode. The voltage generated by the reference electrode depends on temperature. The faster the electrode reaches equilibrium, the more stable the potential of the reference electrode. Three ceramic diaphragms Three ceramic diaphragms make it possible to achieve a high rate of electrolyte flow from the cell for filling into the test solution. Typically, the pH electrode has a single ceramic diaphragm, which provides a flow rate of 15-20 µL/h. FC 220B has three ceramic membranes in contact with the test sample, which provides a flow rate of 40-50 µl/h. The increased electrolyte flow creates better contact between the reference electrode and the indicator electrode, making the FC 220B suitable for viscous solutions or low conductivity samples such as pure water. Fillable electrode FC 220B – refillable electrode. For electrodes with one salt bridge, fill solution HI 7071 3.5M KCl + AgCl is used. When using fillable electrodes, the fill cap must be removed and open before calibration and measurements are carried out. With the lid open, atmospheric pressure forces a steady flow of electrolyte from the reference electrode through the diaphragm. High flow levels result in fast and stable readings. BNC connector The FC 220B uses a BNC connection. This is a universal connection that allows the electrode to be used on any pH meter with the same type of connection. Other types of connections are DIN, threaded, T-shaped and 3.5 mm. These types of connections are typically specific to a specific type of device and are not interchangeable.
