Densitometer BioSan DEN-1B BioSan DEN-1B densitometer is designed to measure turbidity cell suspensions within the range of 0.0-6.0 McFarland units (McF) (0 - 180x107 cells/ml). Opportunities devices provide for measuring the turbidity of suspensions and within a wider range (5.0-15.0 McFarland units), but it should be taken into account that this also increases measurement error. The BioSan densitometer is used to determine the concentration of cells (bacterial, yeast) in fermentation process, when determining the sensitivity of microorganisms to antibiotics, identification of microorganisms using various test systems, for absorbance measurements at a fixed wavelength, as well as for quantitative assessment of the concentration of colored solutions that absorb green light. Principle The operation of the device is based on optical density measurement followed by digital presenting the results in the form of McFarland units. Device calibrated by the manufacturer to work with glass tubes with external 16 mm in diameter and stores calibration data. If necessary it is possible perform 2-6 point calibration within range and 0.0-6.0 units McFarland. To perform calibration, you can use both commercial standards (e.g. bioMerieux, Lachema, etc.) and cell suspensions, prepared directly in the laboratory. Function Reset to factory calibration (New feature) Possible delivery of calibration kits along with the device: Set for working with glass tubes with a diameter of 16 mm (latex particles) Set for working with glass test tubes with a diameter of 18 mm (BaSO4) DEN-1B works both from an external power supply and from batteries (AA).
