Niskin bathometer
Niskin bathometer Sampling is the first and one of the most important stages of chemical, microbiological and other types of analysis. The reliability of the results of subsequent measurements depends on its implementation. Errors resulting from incorrect sampling are almost impossible to correct in the future. As a result, further research, even using the most accurate and expensive equipment, may be pointless. That is why great attention is paid to correct sample selection. The most important factors influencing the correct sampling are the training of specialists performing sampling and the use of special equipment that makes sampling accurate, reproducible and eliminates contamination from the outside. The Niskin bathometer is designed for taking water samples in oceanography, limnology, and hydrology. It is used in sea, brackish and fresh waters. Description Bathometers are attached to the cable one at a time or in series one after another at different depths. The valves of the device are in the open state, freely allowing a column of liquid to pass through. Closing the bathometer valves at the required depth is done using a messenger weight lowered along a cable (line). The standard weight is suitable for cables up to 8 mm thick. A messenger load lowered along a cable sequentially activates the mechanisms of the bathometers. Reliable closing of the device valves is facilitated by a latex rod connecting both valves. All internal parts of the bathometer in contact with the sample are made of inert plastics. The device flask is made of seamless PVC / PP pipe that can withstand high pressures. The mechanism and frame of the bathometer are made of AISI 316 stainless steel. The striking part of the trigger mechanism is equipped with a cable lock, which ensures accurate hit of the messenger load, which increases the reliability of the operation of the bathometer mechanism, even in conditions of deviation from the vertical (presence of flow). A special plastic tap is used to extract the sample. The Niskin bathometer is compatible with the main types of hydrological rosettes. Benefits Reliable design. Corrosion resistant materials. All internal parts of the bathometer in contact with the sample are made of inert materials. Possibility of immersing a series of bathometers or installation in a hydrological rosette (carousel type sampler for installing up to 12 Niskin bathometers). Scope of delivery Bathometer. Passport. The device is successfully operated in departments of Roshydromet, TsLATI, water management agencies, laboratories of universities and research institutes.
