3D printer Picaso Designer XL S2 is a new large-format model from the professional series of FDM printers from the Russian company Picaso. This is the new flagship model for 2022. The printer features a larger build area, an active heated chamber, a high-temperature single-nozzle extruder and many mechanical and electronic improvements. The new model is intended for use in production and functional prototyping. The printer has an enlarged construction area with dimensions of 360×360×610 mm. This is not just an internal space, but an active heated chamber. The top XL S2 models have a maximum chamber heating temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. This creates the necessary microclimate and allows you to effectively work with the most demanding types of filament. The printer body has an additional thermal circuit, which provides reliable thermal insulation. The extruder of this model is high-temperature and equipped with a single nozzle. The maximum temperature is 430 degrees. Its print head has been redesigned to operate in high temperature environments using composite materials. The design uses magnetic encoders to control the supply of material, and new guides are used to feed the thread. Stepper motors have also been replaced with high temperature ones. The printing platform is heated to 150 degrees and has high rigidity. This makes printing more stable and makes automatic platform leveling much easier. Thanks to all these improvements, the Picaso Designer XL S2 3D printer is able to effectively work with the widest range of thermoplastics: ABS, ASA, FLEX, Flex (TPE), Flex (TPU), HIPS, Nylon, PEEK, PA, PSU, PC, PETG, PLA, PMMA, PP, PPS, PS, PVA, RUBBER, SBS, TPU, WOOD, metallized and other plastics. The new product demonstrates increased printing accuracy, and the minimum height of one layer is only 10 microns. The mechanics have been significantly reworked. The design uses new blocks responsible for monitoring the presence and supply of material, with magnetic encoders. The feed control system algorithms have also been updated - thanks to them, the system now works more accurately and prompts the user for possible reasons for stopping printing. The material feed mechanism has been updated - it now uses more reliable bearings. The new software core made it possible to optimize the control of XY motors. In basic speed modes (Standard and Draft), you can get a print of the same quality in less time (up to 1.7 times). In addition, the range of acceptable speeds has been expanded when printing in Manual mode and for gcode files from third-party slicers. The Designer XL S2, like the rest of the Series 2 models, received new control electronics. It has a new, more efficient motherboard, and there are more control boards. Operational stability has increased significantly, the speed of loading jobs via Polygon X has increased almost 50 times, it has become possible to download files from a USB drive, and remotely control the printer both via Ethernet (LAN) and via Wi-Fi. Along with other functions, this printer has the ability to automatically resume printing after a power failure. In this case, you can choose from two modes: in addition to the usual option of resuming printing from the model, there is now a continuation mode from the platform. During long-term power outages, the new mode will allow the product to be divided into parts for subsequent gluing. The old monochrome display and joystick are a thing of the past. Series 2 features a color LCD touchscreen with a new visual style, animations and detailed user guidance. The proprietary professional slicer Picaso 3D has also been updated. Designer XL S2 comes with the new Polygon X 2.0.
